See into
the water.
Hold your phone over the water — DepthGaze fights glare and restores colour in real time, on-device. Classical computer vision, no AI.
A live viewfinder for water — not a filter, not a post-processor.
Every frame from your phone's camera goes through the pipeline before it reaches your eye. What you compose is what you see, enhanced.
Suppresses surface glare.
The white sheen of sun on a flat water surface gets attenuated without crushing the colour-saturated highlights underneath.
Restores colour at depth.
Water absorbs red first, then orange, then yellow. Beer-Lambert physics-based correction reverses that absorption per channel.
Lifts subsurface contrast.
Local-contrast amplification reveals subsurface texture — substrate, weed beds, the shape of fish — that washes out in raw camera output.
Three steps — and you're already using it.
No setup, no calibration, no account. Open the app, choose a mode, hold the phone over the water.
Open the camera.
DepthGaze is a live viewfinder, not a post-processing app. The first frame is already enhanced.
Pick a mode.
Six specialist modes for different conditions. Or let Smart Mode pick the right one for what it sees.
Hold above the water.
Phone above the surface, looking down. Stand on the boat, the pier, the rock, the shore. DepthGaze does the rest.
Tap a mode. See the difference.
Six specialist modes, each tuned for a different optical problem. Every image below is a real DepthGaze capture — your phone's camera on the left, DepthGaze applying that mode on the right, captured at the same instant.
Tools for reading the scene.
A second tier for serious use — extra processing modes (DeGlare, Deep Boost, Edge Reveal, Spectral, Structure) plus automatic mode selection, scene scoring, and tools that calibrate the camera to the conditions you're actually shooting in.
Structure.
Visualises relative depth as warm contour bands, like a nautical chart of the bottom you're looking at. Bands are illustrative only — never a numeric depth measurement.
Smart Mode.
Reads scene brightness, turbidity, and colour cast and picks the right mode automatically. Switches as conditions change.
Spot Score.
A live qualitative reading of how readable the current scene is. Higher is clearer. Useful for finding the best window in changing light.
Image Tools.
Auto-Calibrate Colour, White Balance Calibration, Red Synthesis, Focus Peaking. Per-scene controls for when the defaults don't match your conditions.
If you spend time looking down at water, this is for you.
DepthGaze is a tool, not a gimmick. Built for the people who actually use water cameras in the field.
Anglers.
Find fish. Read structure. Pick spots before you cast. From boats, piers, jetties, and shore.
Snorkellers.
Scout the surface before you drop in. See depth, structure, and life from the boat or shore.
Tide-poolers.
Read rockpool life without disturbing it. Identify what's there before you wade in.
Shore walkers.
Kayakers, jetty fishers, beachcombers — anyone who looks down at water and wishes they could see more.
